A-Millenialism

This is the belief that there will be no millennial reign on earth--no one thousand year reign of Christ and His saints on this earth. Revelation 20:1-7 plainly records a millenial reign, but A-millenialists believe that this reign was not on earth and occured during the reign of the Papacy from about 530, when the Bishop of Rome was established as the first Pope, until 1530 A.D., when the first Protestant Creed was established, diminishing the power of the Roman Popes. It is believed by true A-millenialists that the saints who were martyred are shown as conquerors, reign- ing over the System of Blasphemy setup by the dogmas of the Roman church, and they reigned WITH CHRIST, not on earth, one thousand years. The position of A-millenialists is greatly misunderstood today.

Altar

A sacred place where prayers are offered and offerings are given by the people of God, (Rev. 11:1), to the true and living God; Also a place of offering to an idol, or unknown god. (Acts 17:23) In symbolic language Christ is considered our altar in the new testament. (Heb. 13:10-12; Matthew 23:18-19).

Angels

When used as a symbol, means any agent that God employs to carry out His will. (Rev. 1:20). The same is true of the Devil's agents. (2 Cor. 11:13-15). Messengers of God -- and of Satan. As opposing forces, Michael Vs. The Dragon and his angels, or ministry.

Annihilation

This false teaching is very popular with people like the "Jehovah's Witnesses," who do not believe
in a literal and eternal lake of fire for the punishment of the wicked. Annihilation is the belief that the
wicked will be totally destroyed at some point in the future, and that no ETERNAL place of torment
exists. The Lord Jesus Christ believed otherwise (Mat. 25:41; Luk. 16:24).

Antichrist

Spirits against Christ. Supposed substitute for Christ.

Apostasy

An apostasy is a "falling away" from a standing position. Paul wrote in II Thessalonians 2:3 that a great falling away, or apostasy, would occur in the last days, just preceding our Lord's return. We have lived to see this prophecy fulfilled, for man has fallen further away from God in the past fifty years than at any other time since the time of Christ. Apostasy can be found most anywhere you look, especially in religion, education, politics, the media, and in music. Apostasy differs from all-out backsliding in that the backslider no longer professes, whereas apostates maintain their out- ward profession of loyalty to Jesus Christ and the cause of Christ. These are the most dangerous to the cause of Christianity than any other people.

Ark

The Chest that contained the law of God (Rev. 11:19; Heb. 9:4) the law of God is now written in the heart. (2 Cor. 3:3)

Armageddon

The word comes from Revelation 16:16, and it means "the hill of Megiddo" or "the city of Megiddo." Megiddo is a battlefield in Palestine, which was the sight of Barak's victory over the Canaanites (Jgs. 4:15), and also Gideon's victory over the Midianites (Jgs. 7). King Saul dies here (I Sam. 31:8), which is probably a foreshadow of the future destruction of Antichrists and their evil forces in the great battle. Also means spiritual conflict of nations. (2 Kings 23:29; Rev. 16:14,16). (between forces of God and forces of Satan) The final conflict between wicked and righteous (Rev. 16:14-16).

Armies

A thing resolved on subduing (Rev. 19:14). It may be literal or spiritual warfare. (2 Cor. 10:4) "The weapons of our warfare are not carnal." A body organized for war (even in symbols). Michael (Christ) and his people against (satan) and his people. (Joel 2:4-7).

Arrow

Danger. Darts of the enemy. "Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day." (Psa. 91:5) deceitful tounge (Jer. 9:8) ; weapons of war (Zech. 9:10). Word of God in truth and in error, definitely depicts conflicts between right and wrong. (Jer. 50:14, Psa. 64:1-10 )

Ate

Received the contents of the book in mind and heart. (Rev. 10:10)

Babylon

The Papal church as the mother of Protestantism, and is symbolized as the mothers and daughters (Rev. 17:5,18). A symbol of the apostate church on earth, and divided into two parts (Rev. 17:18), great city, Papal Rome; Protestantism is also symbolized in Rev. 16:19.

Backsliding

This is the act of sliding backward rather than pressing forward "toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus" (Phi. 3:14). The term actually comes from Jeremiah chapter three where God's people are called backsliders because of their willingness to slide back into their sins. Today we often refer to unfaithful Christians as backsliders.

Balance Scales

symbol of scarcity. The means of disturbing by authority that which is valuable, either literal or spiritual, at some great price. (Rev. 6:5). "They shall eat bread by weight." (Ezek. 4:16). Notice Amos 8:11. True and false bread (Prov. 11:1-2).

Barley

The opinions of men set forth as doctrine (Rev. 6:6). Barley was used as provender for horses, also bread for the poor; A symbol of the doctrine of men during the apostasy. Ameasure of wheat in Papalism; two measures of barley in Protestantism.

Beast

A religious kingdom on earth established by men (Dan. 7:4,14). Wild beasts denote tyrannical kingdoms (Rev. 13:1). In Revelation, Chapter 4, it should be translated "Living creature" instead of "beast." It is not the same word in Rev. 13. See Ezek., Chapter 1.

Beast (4) and 24 Elders

Redeemed of all ages.

Binding and Loosing

Permitting and prohibiting (Matt. 16:18, 19; Rev. 20:1-7)

Black

Affliction, distress, dismay, obscure, hidden, or concealed (Rev. 6:5-12, 8:12)

Black (As sackcloth)

Severe judgments; mourning (Rev. 6:12).

Blood

War, carnage, slaughter. To turn water into blood is to embroil nations (Rev. 8:8). It may mean races (Acts 17:26); (Isa. 34:3; Ezek. 14:19) ; subjugate nations (Hab. 2:12).

Bottomless Pit

Any position taken without bible foundation. (James 3:13-17)

Borne (on Eagle's Wings)

(God's) protection and deliverance of his people out of Egyptian bondage (Ex.19:4; De.32:11).

Bow

New Covenant

Bow & Arrow

Warfare, regardless of physical or spiritual. A symbol of calmity or disease (Job 6:4, 34:6; Psa 38:2; Deut. 32.23)

Brass

A strong kingdom. (Dan.2:32). The Grecian kingdom. Represents great strength and hardness.

(Dan.10:16; Re.1:12-15; Dan.7:9)

Brazen Serpent

A type of Christ (Jn.3:14; Nu.21:9).

Bread

The Word of God (Mt.4:4)---Bread of tears (Ps.80:5)---Bread of sorrow (Ps.127:2). The Word of God (true doctrine vs. false doctrine, used in both places).

Bride

The true church of the living God on earth (Re. 19:6,7; Re.21:9; also Jn.3:27-29).

Brimstone

Perpetual torment of the enemy (Re.9:10 and Re.19:20); denotes punishment (De.29:23). Judgments of God (Re.9:17,18; Lu.17:29,30).

Calf

Living creatures (Re.4:7). A symbol of the sacrifices of the church, the interpretation is given in Ezekiel. (Living creatures) Eze. 1:10.

Candlestick

The Church of God (Re.1:20; also Re.11:4 and is given in Zec.4:2).

Chain

Word of God. (Pr.1:9; Ps.149:8). Symbol of sovereignty, also captivity (Rev.9:14; Eze.16;11); chain on Joseph's neck; also confinement of prisoners (Jud.16:21; 2 S.3:34; and Je.39:7). This is what it is used for in Rev.20:1.

City

A church in her aggregate, whether true or false (Re.17:18. False: Mt.5:14; True: also Re.21:2).

Cloud

A large number or multitude witnessing or that are testifying and destined to conquer (He.12:1; Re.10:1; Re.14;14); also represents armies that cover the country (Eze.38:9-16).

Crown

Victor, dignity, and honor (Re.6:2; Re.19:12).

Darkness

Ignorance, spiritual blindness (Is.9:2; 1Jn.2:8; Re.8:12). Also means affliction, sorrow, and gloom of mind. (Re.16:10)

Day

Joy; light; peace of mind; the way to happiness being clear. In prophecy one day for one year (Nu.14:34; Re.11:3; Eze. 4:6). Time---one year; times---two years; half-time---six months: 1260 years (Re.12:6,14; Re.13:5). These three texts mean of symbolize 1260 years, and cover the same period of time.

Demons

Demons are called "devils" in the Bible. Although we are not certain about their origin, many believe they are DISEMBODIED SPIRITS from the Pre-Adamic earth.

We know that these devils are UNCLEAN SPIRITS, for the Bible tells us so in Matthew 8:16 and Mark 5:12-13. There is one who is THE Devil, and he has many "devils" under his command (Mar. 5:9; Luk. 9:1, 11:15; Jas. 2:19). According to the words of Jesus in Matthew 12:43-45 these devils desire to inhabit human bodies, and Mark 5:11-13 tells us that they can even inhabit the bodies of animals. They can do great harm by causing much sickness and suffering (Mat. 9:18-22, 32-33; 12:22; Luk. 8:26- 35; 13:11-17), and they can also SEDUCE a person to lie and teach false doctrine (I Tim. 4:1; I Kgs. 22:22-23). Some people are so influenced by evil spirits that the Bible terms them as being "possessed" with devils (Mat. 4:24; Mar. 5; Acts 8:7). Of course, the greatest defense against demonic influence is always obedience to the word of God and prayer (Mat. 8:16; Eph. 6:10-18).

Door

The way of entrance, the way opened to discover things that were previously closed or hidden; access to things in the future (Re.6:1). Christ is the door to the church (Jn.10:9).

Dragon

Represents the controlling influence for Satan in all time, even in the day of Adam and Eve, and especially in the books of prophecy - Isaiah (27:1), and the Revelation. As a symbol it means ...

Heathen Rome---7 heads, false in opposition to true head which is Christ. 10 horns, 3 political and plucked up, 7 remaining false spiritual. Papacy took over the political scene and co-mingled, bringing about a spiritual-political government. The Lamb had 7 horns, messages of deliverance from that which the Dragon presented in the conflicts. (Luke.1:69; Ps.18:1,2; Rom.1:16). Horns denote power. Also represents heathen Rome (Rev.12:3). The seven heads are forms of government. The Dragon gave his seat and power to the beast (Papal Rome) Rev.13:2. The 10 horns are ten kings under Papal Rome (Rev.17:12). The "Tail" of the dragon is Protestantism and all religions lashing out false teaching, denying the Virgin birth, atonement, and resurrection of the dead. (Rev.12:4). Paganism. Papalism, Protestantism, and 8th beast. (Rev.12:3; Rev.13:1-10; Rev.13:11 ; Rev.17:8).

Drunken

Intoxicated with false doctrines, worldly pleasure and influence. The woman (Papal church) drunk on the bold of the saints (Re.17:6). Those who are under the power of superstition and idolatry are unreasonable. They are drunk on the wine of Babylon (false teaching) (Je.51:7,8).

Eagle

A masterly and orderly kingdom as she swiftly completes her conquests (Eze.17:3). Judgments on Jerusalem. Divers colors perhaps means the different nations of which the army of the Chaldean King was made up. The living creatures in Re.4:7 means the swiftness in which the early church went forth conquering and to conquer.

Earthquake

Quaking of earthly things under Power of God. Spiritual awakening (Re.8:5; 6:12; 11:19; 16:19).Political and moral revolutions; convulsions of human society; downfall of Pagan Rome where the earthquake is felt; the dragon, the beast, the false prophet under these unclean spirits---incite the world to war (Re.16:16); moral shaking (Hag.2:6,7). Shaking as an earthquake (Hag.2:21-22; Rev.6:12).

Ecumenical Movement

This is a wicked twentieth-century unity movement of religious modernists and liberals. It is Satan's desire to unite the world so that all will be in subjection to the coming Antichrist (Rev. 13:3; 12:9); therefore, religious unity is considered a must. Most ecumenicals have no real convictions, and they generally deny the fundamentals of Christianity and the infallibility of scripture. The Pope, quite naturally, is the chief ring leader. One might call the ecumenical movement a modern-day "Tower of Babel" movement. Like Babel, the movement will soon end with the intervening judgment of God (Zep. 3:8; Mat. 13:40).

Egypt

Bondage; sinful, wealth; spiritually like Sodom; (in religion the symbol of the world); any city rejecting Christ as the head of the church or any city denying the Virgin birth (Re.11:8).

Euphrates

The city of literal Babylon was situated upon its banks. Cyrus entered through the dry bed of the river and captured the city. (Re.16:12; Re.7:2; Je.51:63,64). When used as a symbol, it is Babylon's defense or stronghold.

Eyes

Intelligence, knowledge, and skill (Re.4:6); intelligence of the church; intellectual adoration in God's service in an humble way. (Re.5:6 Holy Spirit).

Face

(Of a man)---Undying intelligence; intellectual nature (Re.4:7). This is the church. Also this is explained in Ezekiel 1:10.

False Prophet

When used as a symbol in the book of the REVELATION, it represents PROTESTANTISM.

A false prophet is one who falsely predicts future events. I John 4:1 tells us that there are MANY false prophets in the world, just as the Lord Jesus Christ prophesied in Matthew 24:11.

False prophets deceive people with miracles (Mat. 24:24; Rev. 13:14), good words and fair speeches (Rom. 16:17-18), and of course, just down right lying (Jer. 14:14). False prophets generally have a very positive outlook toward man, unity, love, science, education, integration, and world peace, but they have a very negative view toward the infallibility of scripture, salvation by faith in Christ alone, the Blood Atonement, the Deity of Christ, and the Second Coming of Christ. Isaiah 8:20 and Deuteronomy 18:20-22 are great verses to keep in mind when trying to discern between true and false prophets. Also remember Matthew 7:20: "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

Feet

To settle down upon a course of life to determine, to use power. (Re.10:2).

Fire

Word or Spirit. Also a destroying agent, "The Word of God like a refiner's fire" (Mal.3:2). It burns sin out of the hearts of people. The fire of the Holy Ghost accompanies the preaching of the Word of God.

Five Months

150 years of fallen Protestantism (1730-1880 A.D.). Also, one hundred fifty days---150 years (a day for a year, Eze.4:6). Rev.9:5 denotes the time period of Mahomet, 612 to 762 A.D., which is 150 years.

Flesh

Doctrines, of God (Jn.6:53-58) of men (Re.19:17,18). To eat the flesh means to eat the spoil of enemies, to use the spoil for ones own use (De.20:14). In Re.19:18, shows the great battle be-tween right and wrong. To eat the flesh means to be filled with their teachings.

Foot

"Power to tread upon". Dragon powers. (Lu.10:19) serpents, scorpions, etc. Feet as pillars of fire (Re.10:1-3); (Holy Spirit (powerful) Gospel).

Forehead

Public confession of religion; to have the mark or name is to have the doctrines in the world; "in the hand" is to have fellowship with sectarian teaching of division (Rev.7:3; Rev.13:16).

Fornication

Church joining and fellowship. Untrue to true standard set by God's Word, and accepting the plan of mankind.

Fountain and Rivers

Experiences of salvation.

Fowls

1. The advocates of the Word of God, who are borne up by the Holy Spirit in their preaching, and keeps them above political clouds.

2. Anti-Christian powers. Bad Spirits. (Rev.19:17) refers to seventh angel call to great supper of God. God will turn men over to falsehood if they receive not a love for the truth, or of the truth. (Ever hear "what is eating you?" Doesn't this usually apply to moody people---a bad spirit or attitude working on them).

3. Unclean and hateful birds are mentioned in Rev.18:2. The favor of God's Spirit on man causes him to rejoice.

Frogs

Spirits of devils (Rev.16:13). Unclean spirits like frogs, for they are spirits of the devils.

Garments

The spiritual condition (white purity, Re.19:6,7), (Re.1:13). Scarlet means sinful (Re.17:4). Drunk on the blood of the saints.

Gentile

When used as a symbol, a Gentile is anyone who isn't a Christian. (I Cor. 10:32). In the Old Testament a Gentile was anyone other than a Jew, for there were no Christians then. In prophecy, used as the 'Time of the Gentiles". Idolatrous worship established by law; the unsaved as opposed to the chosen people, the Jews. (Rev.11:2); those who worship idols.

Grapes

Fruitage (wild rebellious grapes Is.5:2-4); clusters may mean nations (Re.14:18).

Great Chain

Holy Spirits's power to bind.

Great City

Babylon

Green Grass

The flesh of Christians that was burned by pagan persecutors. (Rev.8:7). Dry grass refers to the wicked. All flesh is grass, 1 Pet.1:24.

Hail

Solid truth. Word of God falling by inspiration, sweeping away false teaching (Is.28:17). Also, God's judgments, as the plagues of Egypt, accompanied with lightning and thunder. (Rev.8:7; Rev.11:19; Rev. 16:21).

Harlots

Are daughters of the Mother of Harlots spoken of in Re.17:5. If the mother is an apostate organ-ization, calling herself the church of God, then the daughters would be organizations that sprang from that institution and calling themselves churches of God, patterning after the Mother.

Harvest

The harvesting of souls in the end of the world (Mt.13:39). It also represents when people are ready for salvation (Jn.4:35); the judgments of God (Re.14:18 and Re.19:15).

Heads (Seven)

Forms of governments (Rev.17:10). Also the angel gave the interpretation: "Seven mountains on which the woman sitteth: Rev.17:9. Since Rome is called the seven-hilled city, and was the seat of the dragon, it must mean that city. He gave his (political) seat to Papal Rome Re.13:2).

Heaven

(Symbolic)---The church with full salvation in contrast to the political powers. The woman occupied the first heaven by the birth of the spirit. (Rev.12:1). "Raised us up and made us to sit in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" Ep.2:6. Paul spoke of the third heaven (2Co.12:1-5). New heaven and new earth (2 Pet. 3:13). John saw it (Rev.21:1). The heaven and earth that now is had passed away (Rev.20:11-15).

Heaven is a literal place beyond the northern regions of our universe (Psa. 48:2; 75:6-7; Isa. 14:13; Eze. 1:4-5). It is a pure and holy place which has never been touched by the curse of sin and death. It is the actual abode of God and all His mighty hosts (Mat. 6:9; 22:30; 26:53; Jhn. 14:1-3; Rom. 8:34; Rev. 19:11-14).

Revelation chapters 21 and 22 speak of the city New Jerusalem coming down from God OUT of Heaven. This will be the glorious home of all saints in eternity. It will be a place of happiness and peace, a place without tears, death, sorrow, crying, pain, or hunger (Rev. 7:16; 21:4). Heaven is the fulfillment of every human need, but one can only go there through the Blood of Jesus Christ. Paul tells us in Colossians 3:2 that this is where our affection should be today; we should be homesick for Heaven. As the song says, "This world is not my home, I'm just passing through!"

Hell

Hell is a literal burning place in the center of the earth. It is NOT the grave, as many cultists teach, for no one BURNS in the grave as they do in Hell (Luk. 16:23-24; Deu. 32:22; Mar. 9:43-48). Hell was originally prepared for the Devil and his angels (Mat. 25:41), but, since man chose to enter the domain of sin and death, Hell has become his place of torment as well. We read in Revelation 20:14 that Hell will eventually be cast into the "lake of fire."

For those who are opposed to "hell fire preachers, " you may find it interesting to note that "hell fire" was first used by none other than the Lord Jesus Christ Himself (Mat. 5:22; Mar. 9:47). It isn't God's will that anyone should go to Hell (II Pet. 3:9), but He will certainly allow all who reject Christ to go there.

Heresy

A heresy is a departure from truth, a false doctrine propagated by false prophets and teachers (also known as "heretics"). II Peter 2:1 warns us about "damnable heresies." However, the presence of heresies should not surprise us, because I Corinthians 11:19 says, "For there must be heresies among you, that they which are approved may be manifest among you." That is, the light of God's truth shines even brighter among heresies. According to II Timothy 2:15, we are supposed to STUDY and RIGHTLY DIVIDE the word of truth in order to be "approved."

Hidden Manna

The Word of God.

Holy City

The church of the living God on earth (Re.20:9).

Holy Jerusalem

The church of God (Re.21:10).

Horns

Power. Also means kings (Da.8:21). The first king of Grecia was Alexander. The ten horns are ten kings (Dan. 7:24). Seven horns on the lamb means perfection in power. (Rev.5:6). All power of God is vested in Christ. (Mt.28:18).

Horse

The prevailing spirit of the people, carrying out their purposes, either good or bad, which is designated by the color of the horse. White means purity, Christianity; Red means war; Black horse means apostasy; Pale horse means Papal Rome overrunning the earth (death or scarcity of the True Word) Re.6:2,3,8; and Zec.6:2,3).

Horsemen

Are those engaged in carrying out the prevailing spirit of the people. The horsemen of Revelation 9:16 are a symbol of the Ottoman power, or Turkey. Time period: 391 years, from 1281 to 1672.

Horses

Warfare.

Idolatry

Idolatry is basically the act of worshipping anything or anyone other than God. When we allow anything or anyone to come between us and God, we are guilty of idolatry. Many have the idea that idolatry can only be committed by worshipping material objects such as graven images, planets, stars, or by worshipping people or animals. However, the Bible informs us that a BAD HEART ATTITUDE can be idolatry (I Sam. 15:23; Col. 3:5). God knows our hearts, and if He doesn't have FIRST PLACE, then we are guilty of idolatry.

Incense

Prayer; worship; preparation to preach the gospel to the world. (Re.8:3-5).

Inspiration of Scripture

As a symbol, the open Bible means the true teachings of God's Word are widespread around the earth. The partially closed Bible means the true Word is only expounded in part and in isolated places. The fully closed Bible means the Word is not being preached and expounded in truth anywhere in open society. A famine for the Word of God.

When we speak of the Inspiration of Scripture, we are speaking of the fact that the Bible is like no other book in the world. Other writings convey the thoughts of men, but the Bible is a divine revelation from God. Men were instrumental in reducing the scriptures to print, but men did not author the scriptures. The Bible tells us the following in II Peter 1:20-21: "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." This is commonly called VERBAL INSPIRATION. II Timothy 3:16 tells us that ALL scripture is GIVEN by inspiration of God. That is, it was inspired of God the moment it was SPOKEN, and then the spoken word was reduced to writing by appointed scribes (II Sam. 8:17; 20:25; II Kgs. 19:2; 22:3; I Chr, 24:6; Ezr. 7:6; Jer. 36:10, 12, 32; 37:15; Mat. 8:19; 15:1; 17:10; Luk. 5:30; Luk. 11:44; Acts 23:9).

There are some very strong proofs for the inspiration of scripture. I've chosen to list five of them:

The Bible is a UNIQUE Book. The Bible plainly CONDEMNS the human race! The Bible says that all have sinned, man at his best state is altogether vanity, we are condemned already, and that only Jesus Christ can save us. What man would write a Book like that? It was obviously written by Someone OTHER than man.

The Bible is also different in that it is an AUTHORITIVE Book. The Author of the Bible generally says, "I'm right and everyone else is wrong" (Isa. 8:20; Jn. 14:6). Man needs an absolute Final Authority, and the Bible professes to be the authority. No other Book is as authoritive as the Bible.

The Bible is an INFALLIBLE Book. It contains no mistakes. What other ancient writing contains over 700,000 words with no mistakes?

It's a BLESSED Book. God USES the Bible. Millions have come to know Christ through the written word, and millions have found immeasurable joy between its covers. Many great Christian works have been founded and used for many years with the Bible being the authority, and many Christians have found great comfort and peace in it's promises. God has BLESSED us through the Bible. Why would He do this if it wasn't His inspired word?

The Bible is a PRESERVED Book. With all of the opposition that the Bible has faced over the centuries, why does it still exist? Why hasn't someone been successful in destroying it? There's only one answer: Psalm 12:6-7.

Island

Creeds of men. Since mountain means kingdom, then island could represent the smaller countries. To be moved would be to change ruling power (Re.6:14; Re.16:20). Re.6:16---These seem to be places of refuge for false religions

Jerusalem

Christ holds the key to death and hell (Re.1:18). The keys of the kingdom is the gospel (Mt.16:19). We are bound by the gospel if we reject it, and we are loosed, if we accept and obey it.

Keys

The Word of God

Kingdom of God

According to Romans 14:17 and Luke 17:21, this is a SPIRITUAL kingdom which is presently within the hearts of God's people. Those who have received Christ as Savior have been translated spiritually into this great kingdom (Col. 1:13; Eph. 1:3; 2:6). As a Christian, I am already in the Kingdom of God and it is in me.

Lamb

The city of God (the church of the living God does not need any other light except the light that radiates from Christ through his word in this world, and he will be the light in eternity (Re.21:11,23). The Mark of the Beast is mentioned in Revelation 13:17, 16:2, and 19:20, and it is closely connected with the number and name and image of the Beast (13:17-18; 15:2; 14:11).

Mary Worship

Devout Roman Catholics believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus, remained a virgin and remained sinless all of her life. She is worshipped in the Catholic church as the "Mother of God" and the "Queen of Heaven." St. Bernard stated that she was crowned "Queen of Heaven" by God the Father, and that she currently sits upon a throne in Heaven making intercession for Catholics.

The Bible teaches otherwise. In the Bible, Mary was a sinner just like the rest of us. She said herself that she needed a "Savior" (Lk. 1:47), and she even had to offer a sacrifice for her sins in Luke 2:24. Jesus was only her "firstborn" son, according to Matthew 1:25, because she later had other children as well (Mt. 13:55; Gal. 1:19; Psa. 69:8). There's only ONE mediator between God and men, and it isn't Mary (I Tim. 2:5). The last time we hear from Mary in the Bible she is praying WITH the disciples, not being prayed to BY the disciples (Acts 1:14).

Mary Worship is nothing more than Pagan Idolatry. Throughout history pagans have worshipped female deities under various names, and many of them are in the Bible (Judges 10:6; I Sam. 7:3-4; 12:10; I Kings 11:5; II Kings 23:13, etc.), including the "queen of heaven" (Jer. 44:16-25). Mary is nothing more than a ex-sinner saved by grace, whom God chose to use as a means of bringing His Son into this world. The Bible never exalts her above anyone else. Neither should we. If you are a Roman Catholic, perhaps you should give special attention to Mary's only command in John 2:5.>

Mass

The Mass is a Roman Catholic version of the Lord's Supper where members take part in a pagan ritual--actually attempting to eat and drink the literal flesh and blood of Jesus Christ. This is strictly forbidden in the word of God (Gen. 9:4; Lev. 17:11-14; Psalm 16:4; Acts 15:29).

Merchants

This is the belief that the millennial reign of Christ will be ushered in by the Church and that Jesus will not return until AFTER the earth has experienced one thousand years of peace and righteousness. This, of course, is false. Man has never established peace and righteousness and he never will

Pre-Millennialism

This is the doctrine that Jesus Christ will literally return to the earth just before the promised millennial reign of Revelation 20:1-7, and that He will establish the Kingdom and reign over it Himself. We know this is false because the second coming of Christ is not suggested in the above-mentioned scripture. Christ's His Second Coming is not Biblically associated with any Millennial reign on earth -- his reign will be forever and ever.

Just as Jesus came the first time as a literal, physical, and visible person, He will come likewise the next time. Some teach that the Second Coming is not a literal event, but the Bible states very clearly that it is. When Jesus came the first time He came as the "Lamb of God" to take away the sin of the world (Jhn. 1:29), but at the Second Coming He will come as the "Lion of the tribe of Judah" and the "KING OF KINGS" (Rev. 5:5; 19:16).
